Purple Corn Peruvian Rotisserie Joint Dishes Mix Up Latin Flavors In Westchester

The food served at Purple Corn restaurant in White Plains is just as excitingly eccentric as the name of the eatery itself.

Purple Corn Peruvian Rotisserie Joint, newly opened at 72 Mamaroneck Avenue, is quickly becoming known for its authentic Peruvian cuisine like stir fry, paella, fried rice and more.

On the menu, you’ll find an array of chicken, beef and fish appetizers and entrees. Some options, of course, are better known than others, but each is crafted using traditional Peruvian ingredients and cooking styles.

This is also true of the restaurant’s side options, which include several varieties of rice as well as plantains, beans, yucca, lentils and fries.

Don’t be fooled by the restaurant’s bright red rooster logo - though Purple Corn’s primary protein is poultry, its menu also features plenty of vegetarian options, like tallarin saltado, which includes spaghetti sautéed in onions, tomatoes, cilantro and soy sauce.

Purple Corn even keeps things authentic when it comes to beverages: guests can enjoy a cup of horchata, Inca Cola or Chicha Morada with their meal. And of course, family-style options and catering are also available.

After less than a year in business, Purple Corn has earned an impressive 4.5-star Yelp rating. From the superior service and reasonable prices to the quality and authenticity of the cuisine itself, guests just can’t seem to get enough.

“Excellent experience from beginning to end. The sweet woman that helped us from the moment we walked in to when we left was terrific…The food was high quality, prepared fresh on the spot. Lunch for two people with drinks, appetizer, two meals and a dessert for $40. I'd say that's a home run in White Plains. Highly recommended and we will be back!” wrote Kristen C. in a July 31 Yelp review.

Purple Corn Peruvian Rotisserie Joint opens at 9 a.m. each morning, closing at 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. For more information, visit the restaurant’s Facebook page.
